Raider Park - Rapid City

A Community Space

30+ acres on the campus of Stevens High School in Rapid City, SD which has been developed for exercise and academic use by students and staff.

Mission:

To promote recreation and education in an outdoor setting.

Vision:

Raider Park seeks to promote healthy lifestyles, conservation and provide boundless opportunities to study the natural world.

Story:

Raider Park is approximately 30 acres of rolling terrain tucked next to Stevens High School which were previously filled with brush, downed tree limbs and trash. The park’s founders seek to protect the natural features while allowing park users to appreciate the natural beauty and the simplicity of the park. The park has been born of a vision to repurpose this area and allow students to appreciate a bit of wilderness. The park has drawn hundreds of volunteers to see its development. Businesses and individuals and a memorial foundation have provided dollars and in-kind donations. The Park land belongs to the School District, but the school district does not fund its maintenance.
